Our Methodology: How We Collect and Verify eSIM Prices

How the data is collected

Every plan in our comparison tables is a listed, purchasable plan at the time of checking. We record prices in USD as displayed on each provider’s own website or app, excluding one-time promo codes and region-specific taxes. Each provider-country pair carries a “last checked” date, and every comparison page shows the newest date that applies to it.

Cadence: full sweeps monthly, plus off-cycle updates when a provider announces pricing changes or during major sale periods.

How the metrics are derived

All derived numbers are computed from the same two raw fields - price and validity - so every provider is measured by the same ruler:

  • $/day = price ÷ validity in days
  • $/GB = price ÷ data allowance (fixed plans only; unlimited plans show no $/GB because the denominator is undefined, and we prefer not to guess what fair-use means in gigabytes)
  • Cheapest / Best value / Most data badges are assigned by literal sort position within the country table, not editorial preference

Fair-use transparency

“Unlimited” plans are listed with each provider’s documented fair-use policy where one exists. Where a provider publishes no policy, we say so rather than assuming the best. If a plan’s fair-use terms change materially, the plan note changes in the same data cycle.

Corrections

Wrong price on our tables? Send the correction with a link to the provider page. Verified corrections go out with the next build - we do not wait for the monthly sweep to fix an error.

How one plan row is built

Every row in our tables carries the same fields. The example below is a real plan from our database, and each field has exactly one documented source.

Plan name: 1GB / 3 Days

  1. 1 · Price — The listed price on the provider's own website or app, recorded in US dollars. Promo codes and local taxes are excluded.
  2. 2 · Data allowance — A fixed bucket in GB, or unlimited. Anything under 1 GB is stored as a decimal, so a 500 MB trial plan is never rounded up to unlimited.
  3. 3 · Validity — How many days the plan stays active after it is installed.
  4. 4 · Cost per GB — Price divided by the data allowance. Unlimited plans show no figure because the denominator is undefined.
  5. 5 · Cost per day — Price divided by validity. The same formula is applied to every provider in every country.
  6. 6 · Last checked — The date this price was last compared against the provider's own listing.
  7. Plan name — Copied word for word from the provider's own product list. Structural words are localised, the brand name never is.

Data update log

Each row stands for one date on which entries in our price database changed.

Date Entries updated Brands involved
Oct 7, 2026 99 Jetpac, Nomad
Sep 30, 2026 400 Airalo, aloSIM, Holafly, Roami, Roamic, Saily, Ubigi, Yesim

One entry is one brand in one country. The log begins when systematic price checking started, so earlier history does not exist.
