How Sift works
Three steps with zero spin
Check your phone before you pick a country
First confirm your phone supports eSIM. Then every provider that sells a plan there, in one table — including the fine print others bury.
Read the real metrics
$/GB and $/day computed with identical formulas for every provider. Badges are literal sort positions.
Buy where you like
One click out to the provider. We mark sponsored links openly — rankings never follow the money.
Now put the three steps to work — start with the destination you are flying to, then check the phone in your hand.
Why trust eSIMSift
A database rather than an ad network
Real prices with check dates
Every plan is a listed, purchasable plan at check time, with the verification date shown on the page. Full sweeps monthly.
Same ruler for everyone
$/GB, $/day and every badge are computed from one database with identical formulas. No provider can buy a sort position.
Radically transparent
We publish our methodology and our disclosure — including who owns us.

FAQ
Which travel eSIM should you buy
What is the cheapest eSIM price right now?
Across all 50 countries we track, the cheapest plan in the database is $0.51, but that is a small, short-duration plan for one destination. Your real floor price depends on where you are going. Pick your destination to see every provider's cheapest plan, not one sponsor's headline.
Do eSIMs work in my phone?
Most phones made since 2019 support eSIM, including every iPhone XS or later and recent Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models. If your phone is carrier-locked or much older, it may not. Each provider's own compatibility checker is the final word before you buy.
How much data do I need for a week abroad?
Roughly 1 to 2 GB per week covers maps, messaging and light browsing, while streaming video or hotspotting a laptop can burn that in a day. Every country page lists the $/GB and $/day for each plan, so you can size the data to your trip instead of buying the headline bundle.
Which eSIM is best for Europe?
There is no single winner. The cheapest provider changes from country to country, and some plans bundle 30+ European countries while others are single-country. See our Europe eSIM comparison and read the fair-use fine print before trusting a best-for-Europe claim.
Do travel eSIMs expire?
Yes. Most plans activate when you land and run for 7, 15 or 30 days, then expire even if data is left over. A few providers sell longer or top-up plans. The validity column on every country page lists the exact window for each plan.
What does $/GB versus $/day mean?
Both are honest ways to compare value. $/GB is what you pay per gigabyte, best if you know your usage. $/day spreads the plan cost over its validity, best for short trips. We compute both with the same formula for every provider, so nobody can game the comparison.
Is there a free eSIM or a prepaid one with no contract?
Travel eSIMs are prepaid by design — no contract, no monthly bill, no credit check, nothing to cancel. A genuinely free eSIM does not really exist: brands occasionally hand out a tiny trial or a first-order discount, but the allowance is small and short-lived, so it is not something to plan a trip around. The lowest entry price in our database right now is $0.51.
